A FRESH tribute has been paid to a leading councillor who was “interested in people”.
Councillor Anna Mackison, who was waste and contracted services chief at Wychavon District Council, died on Friday, March 18, surrounded by her family at home in Elmley Castle, near Pershore.
The mother of two lost a battle with cancer but was determined and “brave” in her final few weeks, sayfamily and colleagues.
Paul Middlebrough, council leader, said he would miss his “wonderful” colleague.
Coun Middlebrough said: “She has been a servant of the community across Wychavon and she has taken an interest in the people and the difficulties they have had, particularly after the flooding of 2007 when she helped many around Sedgeberrow.
“Not only that, Anna lobbied hard for flood defences right across the district.
“And she converted so many people to the idea of using wheelie bins and recycling.”
Her funeral is being held at St Mary’s Church in Elmley Castle at 2pm on Wednesday.
