MORE than half of north Worcestershire residents have confidence in their local police, according to a new survey.
Figures released by North Worcestershire Policing Board reveal 58 per cent of members of the public were happy with the work carried out by officers in 2010/11, compared with 48 per cent surveyed two years ago.
The satisfaction of victims and witnesses has also increased from 85 per cent to 87 per cent during the same period.
The chairman of the board, Col Tony Ward, said: “Last year, the police authority set West Mercia Police the challenge of making a difference, and improving user satisfaction and public confidence. They have certainly done that in North Worcestershire.
“I congratulate the territorial police unit commander, Superintendent Adrian Pass, and his team of officers, staff, and volunteers.
“These figures show that the Police are listening and do respond to local people’s needs and concerns.”
This summer, members of the public will have the chance to quiz Supt Pass and members of the police authority at a series of policing matters meetings.
The first will be held at Bromsgrove High School on Wednesday from 7pm.
Further meetings will take place on August 24, at 7pm, in Kidderminster Library and August 27, at 7pm, in Redditch Town Hall.
