AN energetic team of walkers admit they have a screw loose in their bid to scale the UK’s highest peaks.

The team-mates are climbing to raise cash for the domestic abuse victim’s charity Supportworks based in Worcestershire.

On Saturday, July 16, they will attempt to climb Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scarfel Pike in England and Snowdon in Wales within 24 hours.

The team have been training since February and have already scaled the Welsh and English peaks to build those calf and thigh muscles.

The five men and three women – who have named their team Got A Screw Loose – are climbing to raise cash for a conference organised by the charity later this year.

Their push has been supported by the Worcestershire Forum Against Domestic Abuse.

Team member Clare Cornbill said: “The conference will be calling on all well-meaning men to speak up and take positive action generating peace in our homes, equality in our relationships and justice in our communities.”

The charity wants to challenge what it says are the norms which allow domestic violence against women and girls to go unreported.
