A NEW playground has been opened with the help of the children who played a part in creating it.
Power Park in St Peter’s, Worcester, was opened by the Mayor of Worcester David Tibbutt before children from Cherry Orchard Primary School were allowed to explore.
The children were involved in the concept – which took inspiration from the area’s Civil War history – and the design of the park.
City councillor Roger Knight said: “This is a great asset for our children. Pupils at Cherry Orchard School were involved in both the concept and design as well as coming up with the name – Area 51.
“This is a really good example of the benefits that can be achieved with joint working, as this came from a partnership which included the parish, city and county councils, landscape architect Charles Potterton and Cherry Orchard School, all working together to deliver this imaginative play park.”
