A TEENAGER from Worcester has been jailed for 18 weeks after threatening to stab police officers.

Wayne Turner had previously assaulted a shop worker as he attempted to steal lager from a convenience store and was given a 12-month conditional discharge last month.

Worcester Magistrates Court was told how the 19-year-old, of Sycamore Road, Tolladine, dialled 999 from his home at about 2.20am on Thursday, May 5.

Louise Mead, prosecuting, said Turner said to the call-handler: “Your mum is a slag and I’m going to stab you.”

The call was traced to the defendant’s address and the police was sent round as the caller said he was in possession of a knife.

Officers got no response at the front door before seeing a young man running down the road who started shouting and swearing obscenities.

Turner then ran up the bonnet of the police vehicle and on to the roof before threatening to “mess up” the officers.

He then said: “I’m going to stab you.”

Ms Mead said Turner was arrested and found to be in possession of a 2.5in kitchen knife. She said: “He said he would stab officers and did have a knife when he was arrested.”

In interview Turner said he could not remember anything from the incident as he had drunk 15 cans of lager.

When asked about the knife he said he had probably made himself a sandwich then put it in his pocket.

The court heard how two days later Turner was seen shouting abuse and punching the window of a taxi outside McDonald’s in Worcester city centre.

He was arrested but his behaviour was “erratic and hostile” and he had to be taken to A&E after banging his head in the police car.

He said he was under the influence of drugs and drink.

Turner pleaded guilty to sending an abusive communication, possessing a knife in public and two counts of using threatening, abusive behaviour. He also admitted breaching the conditional discharge.

He was jailed for a total of 18 weeks.

Magistrates chairman Chris Bull said: “People must be aware that we take a serious view on individuals who disregard orders of the court.”
