By-election result announced
THE Conservative Party in Wychavon have retained the Elmley Castle and Somerville ward following a by-election.
Tory candidate Roma Kirke polled 435 votes, and Jayne Lewis for the Liberal Democrats polled 197 votes, with Mrs Kirke duly elected.
The turnout was 32.6 per cent.
It means Wychavon District Council’s make-up is now 39 Conservatives councillors, five Liberal Democrats and one Labour.
