CHILDREN at a Worcester school have raised more than £600 to help life-savers.
Pupils at Riverside School in Barbourne have been collecting money for the community first responders (CFR) to buy equipment.
Children took part in fund-raising activities, including a car wash and a sponsored swim. A cheque was presented to CFR trainer Diane Pearson. Heather Jones, a teaching assistant at the school and a CFR, praised the children’s efforts. She said: “It’s just amazing – it’s absolutely fantastic.”
“The money will make a big difference because we will use it for our kits, which cost roughly £2,500.”
Headteacher Barbara Scott said the children were keen to support the work of the CFRs. She said: “Heather talks to the children about her work and in that way it’s very meaningful to them.”
“Little things like the ambulance being there as part of learning about the process make it not so frightening. All the responders were very positive with the children and it was great fun.”
