YOUNG farmers in Worcestershire have triumphed at the Three Counties Show.

More than 150 members from Worcestershire battled it out with Herefordshire and Gloucestershire Young Farmers Clubs in a number of competitions to be crowned the 2011 champions.

The tasks included traditional sheep shearing and stock judging, bale pushing and bath racing.

Hannah Talbot, county vice chairman, said: “I am so proud of all the hard work and effort our Worcestershire members have put in to making this a really successful year.

“I would just like to say a huge thank you to all that have helped us regain the title as Three Counties winners.

“Let’s hope we can retain it next year.”

Worcestershire Federation Of Young Farmers Clubs is a rural youth organisation run by its members for its members on a voluntary basis.

It is open to anyone aged between 10 and 26 and aims to provide activities, learning opportunities and achievements.

County youth development leader Katie Ainsworth said: “We are really proud of our members who took part in The Three Counties Show.

“I would personally like to thank each and every one of you who helped us to win the Three Counties Young Farmers Section. Considering it is all voluntary you must acknowledge the dedication and drive that all these members have for our federation and I for one am extremely proud to be a part of it.

“We welcome every one with open arms. Well done, Worcestershire.”
