SAUDI ARABIA conjures up images of oil, wealth, fantastic architecture and distinctive national dress.
The speaker at this month’s Comer WI meeting, Veronica Collette spoke of all these together with much more during her time spent working and living in Riyadh.
She spoke of her work, the conditions and habits of the nationals, and, in particular, about the role of women, being very different from that in the Western world.
Veronica gave a fascinating account of her time in Saudi, prompting discussion and questions from her audience.
Thanks were given by Beryl Lord.
Business matters were dealt with by president Viv Jackman, and invitations and arrangements made by Beryl Lord, who also read the minutes of the May meeting.
Refreshments were provided by Lisa and Sheila whilst Beryl won the raffle prize.
The next meeting is on July 20 when Wendy Hill will give a talk about Edward Elgar.
