A WORCESTER teenager has appeared in court charged with stabbing a 16-year-old boy.

Thomas Mann, aged 18, of Ransome Avenue, off Bath Road, is accused of stabbing the boy a number of times with a knife in Hillery Road, off Spetchley Road, Worcester, in the early hours of Saturday.

He did not enter a plea to the charge of intentionally causing grevious bodily harm.

Sam Lamsdale, defending, said Mann did not accept the allegations against him.

An order was made by the court banning identification of the victim.

Mann – a sports science student – was released on conditional bail by Worcester magistrates to appear at Worcester Crown Court on Monday, October 17.

As part of his bail, Mann must live and sleep at an address in the West Midlands and report to the local police station three times a week.

He was banned from entering Worcestershire except to attend court and pre-arranged appointments with his solicitor.

He was also banned from having any contact with prosecution witnesses including the victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

As reported in yesterday’s Worcester News police and the West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to an address in Hillery Road at 1am on Saturday.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “We were called to reports of an assault and we took one person to hospital.”

The area was cordoned off for several hours by police, searching the area for clues as to what had happened.

The injured teenager remains in a stable condition in hospital.
