MORE than 20 metres of hedge was destroyed in a fire in Malvern after it was set alight by a garden incinerator.

Two fire engines were called to the blaze at The Howsells, Lower Howsell Road, at about 10.30am yesterday. On arrival, crews found a 20-metre section of hedge well alight.

The fire had also spread to a garden shed, which was partially damaged.

Firefighters used four hose reels to douse the flames and brought the fire under control by 11am.

It is believed that a garden incinerator, that was being used by a homeowner to burn waste, was the cause of the blaze.
