VISITORS from the Far East were welcomed to Worcester’s Guildhall as part of a visit to the city.
Worcester mayor David Tibbutt welcomed Yawei Gu, chairman of the Tongling Returned Overseas Chinese Federation, and his colleagues to his parlour.
The members were taken to meet the mayor for a social visit by Frankie Tsang, chairman of Worcester Chinese Federation.
Coun Tibbutt said: “They were absolutely delighted with the Guildhall and the history of Worcester.
“They were very pleasant people and extremely amicable, I was delighted to welcome them to the Guildhall and tell them all about it.”
The tourists from the mountain city also engaged the mayor with its history. Tongling, which spans the Yangtze River, has been the main copper-producing area in China since 256BC.
