A WOMAN was caught drink-driving at nearly three times the legal limit after officers saw her pull into her driveway with a flat tyre.

Amanda Tanner, aged 39, was caught driving with 96mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath – the legal limit is 35mcg – following a night out in Evesham on Friday, August 12.

Liam Finch, prosecuting, said police officers’ attention was brought to the vehicle because one of the car’s front tyres was completely flat.

The officers stopped her and noted she had been drinking.

Tanner, of St Wulstan’s Close, Evesham, admitted drink-driving when she appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court.

Mr Finch also told magistrates that Tanner had a relevant drink-driving offence from 2006 – and she was disqualified from driving for three years.

Barry Newton, defending, said Tanner had no underlying, ongoing problem with drink.

He said: “On the evening in question, she had gone into Evesham town centre to celebrate a friend’s birthday.

"It would have been a 15-minute walk or a five- minute drive, which she chose stupidly.”

Tanner was given a 12-month community order and told to complete the drink-impaired driver’s programme. She must also complete 40 hours’ unpaid work and pay £85 costs.
