THERE will undoubtedly be more cuts to public services over the next few months.

Call them what you will, employ any handy euphemism, but the result will be the same. Some people will certainly be losing their jobs in the near future and this will be the human price that unfortunately has to be paid for the mistakes of politicians and corruption of bankers.

But I just hope that the real grafters are left alone. And by that, I mean the council workmen who turn out in all weathers to empty our bins, mend the roads and do all the mucky jobs that are just too numerous to mention.

The trouble is that these are the people who are so often the first to get the chop.
