MOTORISTS are being warned about upcoming water works in Worcester.

Severn Trent will be replacing 975 metres of water main along Tolladine Road and The Fairway.

The pipes being replaced are more than 30 years old and are prone to leaks.

To carry out the work, Severn Trent will put three-way temporary traffic lights at the junction of Elbury Park Road, Tolladine Road and The Fairway between Tuesday, October 11 and Tuesday, November 8.

Graham Tyler, programme manager for Severn Trent, said: “Our aim is to ensure we continue to provide customers with a reliable supply of drinking water and keep leaks to a minimum.

“We have set ourselves tough targets for cutting leakage over the next few years because we know customers see leaks as a waste and want more to be done to prevent them.”

Mr Tyler said replacing older mains is a less disruptive and more cost effective way of making improvements to the network and better than reacting to bursts when they occur.

Anyone with questions or concerns about the work can contact Severn Trent on 0800 7834444.
