CYCLISTS are getting advice on how to stay safe in the saddle after it was revealed a tenth of county crashes involved bicycles.
The Safer Roads Partnership wants to reduce statistics which show that in the last two years, there were 36 serious injuries and five deaths from crashes involving cycles. It says wearing high visibility clothing, particularly when on the road or at night, is a good start and to always wear a helmet.
Cyclists using rural roads and byeways are also being asked to ring their bell if they come up on walkers or horse-riders from behind.
Drivers are also getting advice to leave plenty of road when overtaking cyclists, and be patient and wait for a safe place to pass before carrying out a manoeuvre.
Bikeability training is available through schools and separately for families and adults with more details available at Bikeability@worcestershire.gov.uk
