A CHARITY fund-raiser which saw two high-profile businesspeople jailed yesterday raised £1,500 for Sight Concern Worcestershire.

Worcester people were called upon to bail them out for this year’s Jail n Bail event, following on from last year’s success.

David Lloyd, landlord of The Coach and Horses in The Tything, and Michelle Sanders, MD of Very Red PR, were arrested, handcuffed and fingerprinted before being imprisoned outside the Guildhall in Worcester.

Event organiser Fiona Blake, Sight Concern Worcestershire’s fund-raising manager, said: “We are very pleased with the interest and support shown by passers-by.

“The prisoners worked really hard in the hot sunshine to get the funds to release them.”

Sight Concern Worcestershire supports people throughout the county who are affected by sight loss.

There are an estimated 10,000 people in Worcestershire with some form of visual impairment, yet the charity currently only has access to 2,500 of those.

It works county-wide to provide information, support and opportunities to people who experience all forms of sight loss and visual impairment, as well as blindness.

Fund-raising events such as Jail n Bail allows the charity to expand its services and reach more of the people who need this support.
