HOW far's a Devon mile? As long as you want it to be, it seems. Time and again, we would ask for directions and were either told "oh, just a mile or so" or "it's a 10-minute walk". I can't for the life of me understand this apparently universal inability to calculate time and distance. Maybe it's a trick played on us grockles.
