A FORMER top football official from Worcester has been convicted of attempting to arrange sexual contact with a 15-year-old boy.

Steven Dorr was also found guilty of twice breaching a sexual offences prevention order (SOPO), which bans him from having contact with children aged under 17, by a jury of eight women and four men at Worcester Crown Court yesterday.

He was acquitted of a third breach that was alleged to have taken place at the Crown pub in St John’s, Worcester, on December 13, 2010.

Dorr, who had been an assistant referee in the Premier League, invited three young soldiers – two aged 17 and one 16 – back to his room at the Fownes Hotel, Worcester, for a “night of fun” on Valentine’s Day last year.

The 41-year-old offered them £50 up front and a further £100 to take part in a sex act with him.

Dorr took off his trousers and so did the boys, but one of them grabbed the money and ran off with a friend. The third teen also eventually left.

Dorr was asleep when the soldiers later returned and he fled down the hotel’s fire escape, claiming he was fearful for his safety.

The soldiers caught up with him in the street, knocked him to the ground and called the police.

Dorr also offered to pay a 15-year-old boy for sexual contact when one of the boys texted him claiming his “friend” was available, although it was a figment of his imagination.

Dorr further breached his SOPO when he travelled to South Africa for the World Cup last year with a group which included a two-year-old girl, despite not having permission from the relevant authorities to be in the company of the child.

A SOPO was imposed on Dorr in January 2009 when he was given a three-year community order after admitting 10 counts of downloading child pornography.

Judge Patrick Thomas ordered a report to be carried out on Dorr before his sentencing at Worcester Crown Court on Thursday, October 20.

He warned him that he could face custody for two of the offences.

Dorr was released on bail, on condition that he lives at an address in Broad Street, Worcester, does not contact witnesses, notifies police of any changes of address and complies with the probation service in the completion of the pre-sentence report.
