A WANNABE model has been strutting her stuff on the catwalk to get through to the next round of a modelling competition for gay and bisexual women.

When Jennifer Smith entered the national competition she did not expect to get through to the next stage, so was thrilled to receive a telephone call from the organisers inviting her to London.

"When I had the call I was absolutely ecstatic," said the 21-year-old, of Aylton Close, off Spetchley Road, Worcester.

"I feel really lucky to have got through. It's given me a great confidence boost. I really hope I get further and get through to the final and perhaps even win."

The winner of the competition, organised by g3 - a magazine for the young lesbian community - will secure a year's modelling contract with top modelling London agency Oxygen and will be selected as a role model for the lesbian/bisexual community - appearing on the front cover of g3. Last week Jennifer, who is a lesbian, was invited to London, where she and other contestants had their hair and makeup done, were dressed in designer clothes and asked to parade on the catwalk.

The support worker, who helps adults with learning difficulties, was asked questions by judges to see if she has what it takes.

Jennifer said: "It's really hard to know exactly what they are looking as a role model - obviously there is so much diversity throughout the lesbian community.

"I just went there with a positive attitude and was myself."

Jennifer is now relying on text votes to help her achieve her dream and has asked Worcester News readers to help. To vote for Jennifer text rolemodel 46' to 81800. The heat finalists will be invited to a grand final at Cafe de Paris in London on Sunday, November 12.
