The holidays are over and to the relief of parents everywhere it's back to school, and the Scouts! Joan and I went to the 60th anniversary celebrations of 5th Worcester Sea Scouts and met an original' from 60 years ago, Ivor Brand. Ivor certainly didn't look old enough to me but the photos are there to prove it. Ten year-old Ton Yau was presented with a rare Chief Scout Silver Award for his accomplishments in the cubs. Well done Ton.

Last weekend was Heritage Day in the Guildhall, well two days actually. On Sunday we were open for all who wanted to see inside and we had an assortment of nationalities come to visit. Russian, Japanese, Estonian, Kiwi, and many more. Oh yes, and some Americans of course. I really enjoyed showing off the Parlour to them all. I have said before how impressive it is. We are so lucky to have such a fine building.

It was even more fun on Monday when schools visited us. Through the day there must have been around a hundred youngsters in the Parlour and cells. I had plenty of suggestions on whom to test the ceremonial sword. Funny, but it was usually a teacher. The youngsters loved the cells though, especially as we had Paul Harding in period costume as the jailer. A really great day.

We were welcomed in at least eight different languages, which reflects the school's diverse mix of nationalities Joan and I went into St George's CE Primary to hear about last terms' trip to Toledo, Spain.

We were welcomed in at least eight different languages, which reflects the school's diverse mix of nationalities, and I could only respond in English.

I really should learn another language.

What a great time they had had and a presentation by the youngsters showed just how wonderful it had been. The same group is off to France this year.

I opened the IT suite in St Clements Primary - I love cutting Ribbons!

The suite has the wow factor all right, what an asset to the school.

Came across Chloe Page in the playground, a young lady who one day will make a great RSM. She certainly controlled her peer group. Who needs teachers with Chloe there!

To round off, I must mention meeting some Spitfire veterans from World War II, signing books in the Guildhall, Sid Cleaver, Bill Kirk, Fred Roberts, Huw Bond, Tony Minchin and others. Nice to see Jack London who was in the Battle of the River Plate on board HMS Exeter.

We owe them a lot.
