A BARMAN has been fined for selling alcohol to two 16-year-old girls.
Thomas Morgan, barman at the Prince of Wales in Church Lane, Ledbury, admitted selling bottles of Smirnoff Ice to two 16-year-old girls when he appeared at Hereford Magistrates Court.
Morgan, aged 29, a personal licence holder and fully trained in the sale of alcohol, did not ask the girls for identification.
The incident happened on Friday, February 18, and was part of a joint test purchase operation by Herefordshire Council’s trading standards team and West Mercia Police in the Ross and Ledbury areas.
In mitigation, Morgan said he had made a mistake and had now reduced his hours as he was studying for an Open University degree.
He was fined a total of £110 and ordered to pay £386.85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
