A GROUP of talented young writers are enjoying time in the spotlight thanks to the Rotary Club of Droitwich Spa.

Club members gathered at Rotary House, Corbett Ave-nue, to present prizes to the winners of the Rotary Young Writers Competition 2011.

Writers from Droitwich scooped prizes in a number of different categories.

Dodderhill School pupil Harriet Holyhead, aged 10, came first in the junior poetry section, Tierney Holloway, 14, also from Dodderhill School, won the intermediate poetry prize and Isabelle Schoch, 13, won the intermediate prose section. Christopher Rouse, from Droitwich Spa High School, won the senior poetry prize.

Awards were presented by town mayor Mike Barratt.

The judges were in attendance and the event was hosted by Rotary Club president John Plumridge.
