EIGHT tyres were slashed multiple times in what has been described as a “frenzied” attack in a village near Worcester.

Steve Gowenlock was shocked to discover the tyres of both his car and horsebox had been destroyed by someone who had used a sharp object to make several slashes in each tyre.

He estimates it will cost him £1,100 to replace the tyres.

Mr Gowenlock, of Brockhill Lane, Norton, said he was confused about the motives behind such a vicious attack.

He said: “It is every single wheel and it’s come completely out of the blue. I honestly do not know why it has happened.

"Whoever has done it is clearly not in their right mind.”

The car and horsebox were kept in the neighbour’s field next door to their home, which the Gowenlock family has rented for 20 years, and used to take their daughter to and from eventing competitions.

It was Mr Gowenlock’s neighbour who pointed out the damage to him yesterday morning.

“She is upset too,” Mr Gowenlock said. “I’m upset as well.

"Whoever did this is mad – they have slashed each tyre about three times leaving six-inch gashes.

"It is a frenzied attack. I would like to know the reasons.

“Life’s hard enough for everybody as it is.

“I’m going to have to draw on my pension to replace all the tyres.

“This is not the same as somebody using a screwdriver and letting your tyres down.

"I am 50-years-old and I haven’t had a disagreement with anybody for years.

"We are just a normal family who has done nothing wrong. We are not a gangster family.”
