THE source of a mysterious stench which has been wafting through Worcester this week has been discovered by an eagle-eyed photographer.
Residents have been complaining to the council and the Worcester News on Twitter and Facebook about the stink which has made its way to all four corners of the city.
And while everyone has been enjoying the warm weather over the past few days – it may have contributed to the smell spreading so far.
Dave Grubb took a walk along the new Diglis Bridge at 7am yesterday and captured a tractor “muck spreading” in a nearby field.
Mr Grubb, who operates the CCTV camera monitoring peregrines in St Andrew’s Spire, said: “I wasn’t out on a mission to discover the source of the smell.
"I had just gone out to take some pictures. I noticed the tractor in the corner of my eye and realised it must have been causing it.
“I spoke to another walker who told me it had been going on since the weekend.
“I think the stench has been worse and travelled further because of the warm weather. I can smell it from my house in Claines.”
Farmers often spread manure in the summer, after crops have been harvested, to replenish the soil for the following year.
