A PERSHORE man is demanding action after a car smashed into his home, leaving his 80-year-old mother traumatised.

Trevor Bailey lives in Smith’s Way, off Defford Road, and has appealed for action after a car hit his garage on Tuesday, September 20, at about 3pm.

The house was also hit by a car in 2006, but Mr Bailey says nothing has been done to improve safety on the road since.

He said: “Why should someone have to die before something is done? Someone will be injured seriously soon. My mother was in the house when it happened. She was traumatised. It is a dangerous bend.”

Pershore PC John Hunter said: “We do speed checks along Defford Road, a minimum of once a month. We did a check on September 21 and the average speed was 27.55 mph.

“I am not saying people don’t speed, there are foolish people everywhere. Evidence indicates there is not a speeding problem there. We are reviewing the situation in light of this accident.”

Worcestershire County Council said a site for a vehicle activated sign had been approved in Defford Road.
