A BUSY Worcester road has reopened after a gas leak on a building site was repaired.
Police and firefighters were called to Bromyard Road, St John's, just after 10.30am when a contractor working on a building site nearby struck a gas pipe near Church Terrace.
Officers shut the road between the library and Comer Road just before 10.50am and firefighters assisted them in evacuating nearby homes and businesses.
Engineers have now fixed the pipe and stopped the leak. The road reopened at 12.10pm and residents have been allowed to return to their properties.
