TWO huge fig trees will grace the new St Richard's Hospice building in Worcester thanks to a generous gift from a Worcestershire garden centre.
Patients and families visiting the new £5.25m hospice, which opens early next month, will be able to admire the 12ft high ficus specimen trees in the new reception area donated by Webbs. Costing £1,000 each, the two mature trees are of the green jam' variety.
Marilyn Peachey, St Richard's Hospice director of fund-raising, said: "Webbs is a wonderful supporter of the hospice and this is another very generous gift. I'm sure the fig trees will be much admired."
Webbs executive chairman Ed Webb added: "These fig trees really are wonderful specimens. We are delighted that the trees will help the hospice create a welcoming and warm environment for their patients and families. They also symbolise wisdom and integrity which is at the heart of hospice work."
The new hospice will open its doors in October.
