WORCESTER Wolves start their British Basketball League championship campaign tonight with a long trek north to Glasgow Rocks (7.30pm).

The University of Worcester-based side, who will arrive in Scotland with no injury concerns, are looking to make it two wins in a row on the road following their 96-85 victory in the BBL Trophy at Plymouth Raiders.

However, Wolves director of basketball Paul James admits his team will not have an easy task north of the border.

“The Rocks have made some changes this summer but have held onto their key players and in particular EJ Harrison, who is still one of the best point guards in the BBL,” the Wolves chief said.

“I have not had a chance to see them yet but, having coached EJ before, I know they are going to be ready to play.”

Wolves are expected to begin their 320-mile journey this morning with James hoping his players will not be feeling the effects of the five-hour road trip when they get on court.

“We will be making a couple of stops along the way and the plan is to get to Glasgow two-and-half hours before tip-off,” said James.

“Hopefully, that will give us enough time to get the coach trip out of our legs before the match.”

Meanwhile, Worcester will be on Sky Sports two weeks in a row after the satellite television broadcaster announced which BBL matches they will show in the first half of the season.

Wolves’ game at Milton Keynes Lions, originally scheduled for April 18, will now be played on Tuesday, November 29, and shown live. The clash at Guildford Heat on Sunday, December 4, will be aired in full two days later.
