PUPILS from a Worcester school have said a fond farewell to a popular staff member.
Ann King had worked at St Barnabas primary school for about 30 years before her retirement.
She spent 25 years as a lollipop lady and was also caretaker, cleaner and a lunchtime supervisor at the Green Lane school.
At an assembly to mark her retirement, pupils sang songs and presented her with a belated 65th birthday cake, cards and a collection.
Headteacher Angela Deakin said: “When I came here 14 years ago she was the lollipop lady, the cleaner in charge and the caretaker but she has also been a lunchtime supervisor for the reception class as well.”
Mrs Deakin said Mrs King had worked at the school since 1983 but her job as crossing patrol pre-dated that.
She said: “She has been an absolute star. She’s been really supportive and helpful and helped make St Barnabas a very special place to be headteacher and to work.
“We shall miss her but we’ve already starting inviting her back.”
