THE village hall had been decorated with tinsel and holly; a group of members had organised Christmas fare; another group of members provided entertainment in the form of a mini-pantomime Red Hot Cinders; and the evening ended with the singing group encouraging members to join in songs and carols. A lovely evening for members and friends.

After members had packed and sent shoeboxes to some of our troops in Afghanistan, a letter was read out saying that they would be distributed and kept for Christmas Day, and saying how much these gifts and thoughts were appreciated.

The pub lunch will be held at the Cob House.

Alfrick WI hosted the Elgar Group carol service held at the Church of St Mary Magdalene, Alfrick.

The church was full, the service traditional with a twist in the form of a performance of An Alternative Nativity performed by members of Alfrick WI.

Invitations had also been received from adjacent WIs to join with them in their Christmas meetings.

Members were reminded to bring along their voting slips to decide on the resolutions listed in WI Life to the January meeting.

The evening ended with everyone helping to clear up after a most enjoyable Christmas meeting, and with best wishes to all members, friends and families.
