PERSHORE Town Football Club has made its premises available for a memorial match to be held in honour of a teenager who died suddenly on Christmas Eve.

Scott Holden, who was studying for his GCSEs at Pershore High School, was a keen footballer and played as a striker for Drakes Broughton Rangers Football Club’s under-16s side.

The 16-year-old, of Newlands, was found dead in his bedroom at his family home on December 24.

Colin Shepherd, committee member and event organiser at Pershore Town FC, said the club wanted to offer the facilities in memory the late town teenager.

He said: “He was local lad who lived round the corner from the club.

"We just want to offer the facilities to his family and his friends as a gesture towards their fund-raising.

"The organisers can use the full facilities. There will be no charge.”

Pershore High School headteacher Clive Corbett has also offered the use of the school’s football pitch for the planned match.

Details of the game are expected to be released in the next few weeks with funds raised being donated to a charity chosen by Scott’s parents.

Organisers of the memorial match can contact the club on 01386 556902 or the club chairman Damien Rouke on 07966 586659.

• An inquest into Scott’s death was opened and adjourned awaiting reports, last week.
