DAREDEVILS from all over Worcester turned out to raise money for charity yesterday by doing a reverse bungee.

About 100 people signed up to take part in the sponsored event with all their money going to the Dr Joe Jaffe Hospital Support Charity in order to buy new equipment for the heart unit at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Sarah Nottingham and Louisa Cox were part of a group of eight people from KinderKare Day Nurseries who raised a combined total of about £1,000 for the children’s hospital.

Ms Nottingham, aged 23, said: “I loved it. We are raising money for the children’s hospital and it was so much fun. I would definitely do it again.”

Her friend and colleague Ms Cox was slightly less prepared to step back into the car which catapulted the girls 200ft in the air. “I am not afraid of heights but the bouncing made me feel a bit sick. But it was great fun,” she said.

Appeal co-ordinator Keith Coulter said they were expecting to raise at least £2,000 to £3,000 from the event, held outside the Perdiswell House pub.

Mr Coulter said: “Today is absolutely fantastic now the weather has turned for us. The hospital gave us a list of what they need and when we have enough money we buy some of the specialist equipment for them.

"The heart unit is a part of the hospital that doesn’t get lots of support so we have taken up the fund-raising for them.”
