AN Evesham man who struggled to come to terms with his mother’s death committed suicide, a coroner has ruled.
Shaun Gayton, aged 34, was found hanged from a swing in Abbey Park in Evesham on Thursday, December 29, an inquest at Stourport Coroners Court was told yesterday.
The former Prince Henry’s High School pupil was last seen alive at 4pm the previous day at his home on Oak Tree Close.
It is thought he killed himself between then and 7am the next day, when he was found.
His suicide happened just eight days before the first anniversary of his mother’s death.
Worcestershire Coroner Geraint Williams said Mr Gayton was very close to his mother and had left a note making clear his intentions to end his life.
After the inquest, Mr Gayton’s family said: “We love and miss him very much.”
