AN inquest has opened into the death of a 24-year- old rugby player who collapsed while watching a match at Worcester’s Six-ways Stadium.
Dominic Cullen, of Matson Rugby Club in Gloucester, was in Worcester on Sunday, May 6, to watch his club’s under-17s play in the National U17 Champion-ship.
Mr Cullen, of the Green, Churchdown, Gloucester, had played earlier in the day in the North Gloucester Combination Cup.
As previously reported in the Worcester News, he collapsed in a toilet block at Sixways Stadium at 5.20pm and attempts were made to revive him before he was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital where he died.
Tributes have poured in for Mr Cullen, who Darren Mann, manager of Matson seniors, said was a “great guy” who was liked by everybody.
“He was a great guy. Everybody liked him. There is nothing bad to say about him," Mr Mann said.
A spokesman for West Mercia Police said Mr Cullen’s death was being treated as unexplained.
Police are still awaiting results of post mortem tests.
