A money adviser from Worcester has won a national award for helping people struggling with their finances.

Tracy Murphy, who works for the Two Pennies Money Advice charity, was presented with the award for the Institute of Money Advisers’ prize for Money Adviser of the Year at a gala dinner.

The charity, based in the Angel Centre, Angel Place, offers advice to those with money issues and helps Worcestershire people formulate strategies and money management plans to improve their financial situation.

Many of those who benefit are referred through organisations such as social services, Onside Advocacy and often include those with physical and learning disabilities.

The charity is supported financially by St Peter’s Baptist Church, City Church Worcester and Manor Park Church.

It has also won awards from the Church Urban Fund and Worcestershire County Council.

The award nomination described Mrs Murphy as an “exceptional money adviser who was able to combine straightforward advice with warmth and empathy”.

Mrs Murphy said: “I am very honoured to have won this award.

“It is wonderful to be appreciated on a national level by the professional body for money advisers, and to see Two Pennies Money Advice on the map.”

The Rev Martin Hodson, St Peter’s Baptist Church, said: “Tracy’s award is a great tribute to her own hard work and gives some well-deserved recognition for the vital support Two Pennies Money Advice provides for people in the city.”

Kate Harvey, chief executive of Onside Advocacy said: “We are delighted that Tracy has been recognized through this award.”
