A PACK of royal memorabilia is being offered to help Diamond Jubilee parties go with a swing.

Stanley Marshall, a retired businessman, has collected coins, T-shirts and tea towels from the Queen’s silver and golden jubilees and royal weddings.

He has created about 30 packs of goodies which he believes are worth nearly £40 but will sell them to jubilee party organisers for £10.

Any money raised will go towards a Ciehanow City Mission, a charity for underprivileged children north of Warsaw, Poland.

Mr Marshall, from Whitbourne, near Worcester, said: “I was a managing director of a company that printed items for schools, colleges and authorities for 50 years.

“After I retired I’ve helped children’s charities in Eastern Europe including Ciehanow City Mission.

“For the Silver Jubilee we printed 75,000 T-shirts for various people and so I kept some. For the golden jubilee we printed several thousand items and again I kept a few back. Some schools have already had the packs to give as raffle prizes. They are ideal for that.”

The pack includes a Churchill Crown and Queen Elizabeth II crown coins, a Silver Jubilee T-shirt, a Golden Jubilee T-shirt, two Golden Jubilee tea towels, a Diamond Jubilee morris van model, a Diamond Jubilee T-shirt in a commemorative box and a sketch of Buckingham Palace.

Mr Marshall is also offering Diamond Jubilee T-shirts at well below cost price. Anyone interested should call him on 01886 821153.

Malvern road closure

BELLE Vue Terrace in the centre of Malvern will be closed to traffic when it becomes the venue for a party to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The closure, thought to be the first ever for a party, will allow traders to host a Great British Tea Party on Bank Holiday Monday.

The event, described as a 1950s-style street party, will feature afternoon teas, live music, games and entertainment for all the family.

Running from noon to 4pm, it is open to all.

Most of the businesses along the terrace will be open, and there will also be a mini-farmers' market and stalls selling food, vintage clothing, flags and bunting.

Organisers describe the closure of the terrace as “a fantastic opportunity to experience the town from a new perspective”.

It also gives the town a chance to try out some of the recommendations n the town’s bid to become a Mary Portas Pilot town, including creating usable social space and putting on cultural events to attract visitors.

Chris Marks of Iapetus gallery said “The party will be a great deal of fun for all and as traders we look forward to welcoming both new and familiar faces.

"We are also delighted to be working with Malvern Town Council to make this a really special day.”

The road closure is one of eight approved by Malvern Hills District Council for Jubilee street parties.

The other are at Somers Park Primary School, the Dingle in West Malvern, Castlemorton, Great Witley, Suckley, Earls Croome and Clifton-on-Teme.
