A STOLEN caravan ended up in a ditch after a late- night police chase in Worcester.
Officers on patrol in Cotswold Way, Warndon, spotted a van towing a caravan without any lights on at about 1.50am yesterday.
They requested it to stop, but when it failed to do so pursuit was authorised, said a West Mercia Police spokesman.
He said the vehicle stopped in Homestead Avenue, almost a mile away, and the people inside fled on foot towards Waterside Park.
Mr Shergold said: “Both the caravan and van were stolen, the caravan from Stourport and the van from the West Midlands.”
Ken Russell, who lives in Homestead Avenue, said he was woken by a loud sound and noticed a police car outside with its lights flashing and siren wailing.
“From what we could see a car towing a caravan had been chased down our street.
"It attempted to get through the gap onto Snowshill Close and in the process I think the caravan became lodged in the ditch,” he said.
“Several police cars attended, police dogs as well, and some kind of search of the trees and bushes took place.”
He said two low loaders then attended and the caravan was pulled from the ditch about two hours later.
Police are investigating and want anybody who saw any suspicious activity around Waterside Park to call 101 quoting 34S/290512.
