STAFF at a country pub will carry on the good work of their late landlady and raise funds for good causes in her memory.

The Berkeley Arms in Spetchley, near Worcester, is hosting Berkeley’s Got Talent on Friday in aid of Acorns Children’s Hospice.

The talent contest is being held in memory of their former manager Sian Thomas who died almost a year to the day after suffering a fall on a night out. The 38-year-old had been planning to hold the event at the time of her death and staff now feel the time is right to follow through with her ideas and celebrate her memory.

Jenny Kite, who works at the Berkeley and was a close friend of Miss Thomas, said: “Sian loved planning events at the Berkeley and she was very passionate about this contest, and about Acorns Children’s Hospice.

“We are excited to be holding an event that will benefit a worthy cause while also paying tribute to her.

“It should be a really fun night and we hope to see lots of people there.”

The event will feature music provided by a DJ and a buffet, as well as an array of talent, with tickets priced at £5.

There will be three judges in place to give their opinion on the acts in a similar format to the contest’s famous television counterpart and the winning act will receive a prize.

Acts of all types and ages are welcome and those looking to showcase their talents can contact the Berkeley Arms by calling 01905 345269 or e-mailing berkeleyarms@spirithospitality.co.uk.
