A MAN was arrested for being verbally abusive as emergency services talked another man down from threatening to throw himself from the city's main river bridge.
Police, fire and amublance services rushed to the bridge at about 7.15pm yesterday, after a call from the public saying a man was the wrong side of the stone railing, on the Cathedral side as we reported.
Officers cleared the bridge of pedestrians and set up a cordon, while ambulance staff spent 20 minutes trying to talk the man, who appeared to be intoxicated, to safety.
He eventually agreed to go with paramedics.
However, a West Mercia Police spokesman said another man "was arrested at the cordon by police officers for a public order offence.
"He was being verbally abusive."
That man remains in custody at Worcester police station.
