A YOUNG fundraiser cycling 2,012 km around all the UK’s Olympic venues stopped along his way to pay a visit to his own Vale of Evesham school.
Jake Phipps, aged 12, of Kersoe, near Elmley Castle, was around halfway through his gruelling five-week challenge when he arrived at Bredon Hill Middle School.
Jake is cycling alongside family friend Philip Woods and his mum, Nic, who also visited her workplace at St Richard’s First School.
She said: “We had a great day on Friday, after a really windy ride into Evesham, we got into St Richard's just before lunch and Jake was able to talk to the Year three and four groups in assembly time and also do a collection.
“After that we pedalled into an increasingly strong wind to Bredon Hill Middle School. The reception was absolutely fantastic. Jake’s year were waiting for him at the school gates and gave him a huge cheer as we cycled into the school. It was quite emotional for all of us.”
The three will end their journey in London on Tuesday, July 17. To follow their progress, visit bikewithjake.blogspot.com. To make donations, visit virginmoneygiving/team/bikewithjake or text JAKE2012 to 70070.
