Police are appealing for witnesses to an attempted arson at a home in Worcester.
At around 9.45pm, someone put a lighted piece of paper through the letterbox of a property on Cranham Drive, Warndon, on Monday. The paper was pulled from the letterbox, put out safely and no one was injured.
Sgt Jill Fowler, local policing sergeant for the area, said: "The incident occurred at the home of an elderly disabled couple and I am very concerned about why someone targeted them in this way.
"The fire could have been far worse if it wasn't for the quick actions of a neighbour and we need to find the person responsible for trying to start the fire.
"I would like to hear from anyone who may have been in the area on Monday evening and may have seen anything suspicious or anyone who may have information about who was behind the arson attempt."
Sgt Fowler can be contacted via the non-emergency police number 101 or information can be passed on anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Please quote the incident number 893S 25/06/12.
