Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was found dead following a car fire near Ombersley.
At just after 11am yesterday, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service were called to a new-style BMW Mini Cooper on fire in a field off Woodhall Lane, Ombersley, near Worcester.
When the fire was extinguished, the body of a man was found inside. His death is currently being treated as unexplained and while detectives believe they know his identity, this has yet to be formally confirmed.
Detective Sergeant Pete Sherwood from Wychavon CID said: "A post mortem took place this morning and it has not been conclusive on the cause of death.
"it's not yet clear what has taken place and we are still in the early stages of the investigation, so I would like to speak to anyone who saw this Mini in Woodhall Lane, particularly in the moments before the fire started.
"Did you see it either drive off or leave the road and enter the field? Did you see any other kind of activity in the field? If you did, please get in touch."
Det Sgt Sherwood can be contacted via the non-emergency police number 101 or information can be passed on anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
