DODDERHILL History Society hosted a visit from members of The Midland Metal Detecting Club (MMDC) on Saturday, July 14.
Mr John Brown, MMDC member, gave a brief talk at Wychbold Community Hall on his experiences of metal detecting around the village and showed some of the finds he had unearthed.
These finds included a 12th century Ampula, a flask that held holy water or oil buried in the ground to bless the crops, a 15th century silver groat from the reign of Edward IV, two Victorian gold sovereigns a number of crotal bells and numerous other copper coins.
Following the talk, other members of MMDC showed some of their finds ranging from Roman coins to a WW2 German officer’s epaulette.
