A NUMBER of guests had to be evacuated from a Worcester hotel this morning after a fire broke out in the sauna cabin.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service were called to the Whitehouse Hotel in Foregate Street at 7.30am to reports of a fire in the ground floor sauna.

Two pumps from Worcester were sent to the scene and firefighters in breathing apparatus used two hose reels and a C02 extinguisher to tackle the fire, which also caused smoke damage to the hotel's fitness suite.

The fire is believed to have been caused by a fault with the thermostat in the heater inside the sauna.

The stop message came through at 8.30am.
