TWO cars were stolen after the keys were taken from inside an unlocked house in Stourport.

Keys to a green T-reg Ford Focus and a green L-reg Vauxhall Frontera were taken from the house in Sandy Lane after it was entered via an unlocked door between 12am and 12.10am on Sunday.

The two cars were then stolen from outside the property, but found abandoned yesterday on Hartlebury Common.

Detective sergeant Marc Sanders from Wyre Forest CID said: "While we are glad that these vehicles have been recovered and can be returned to their rightful owner, our focus now is on catching the people responsible for burgling the house.

"With the recent launch of Citadel, a new initiative aimed at driving down the number of burglaries committed in the force area, bringing burglars to justice is a top priority for us.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the vehicles being driven away from Sandy Lane in the early hours of this morning, or who may have seen the cars being driven onto the common where they were later abandoned.

"I would like to remind people about the importance of home security and ensure that their doors are locked before going to bed so they do not become an easy target for burglars. Residents should also be mindful about leaving vehicle keys on display near entrances where they can be easily seen and accessed by criminals."
