BROMSGROVE Sporting kick off the long-awaited league season this weekend buoyed by several new signings made by boss Brendan Kelly on the eve of the campaign.

League football returns to the Victoria Ground this Saturday when Bromsgrove Sporting host Coalville Town in the Rouslers' Southern League Premier Central curtain-raiser.

The crowd is limited to 600 owing to Government-imposed restrictions so fans are urged not to get there too late.

Season tickets will be available on the day as well as in the Club Shop on Wednesday and Friday this week from 10am to 3pm.

Bromsgrove will be boosted by new midfielders Miro Pais and Danny Mullarkey, a St Lucia international, as well as striker Aram Soleman who has joined from AFC Guiseley.

However, there will be no dream Rouslers return for Bromsgrove legend Jason Cowley.

The striker has been training with Bromsgrove after his release from League Two side Stevenage but has now signed for National League club Macclesfield Town.

Sporting rounded off a pretty successful programme with a narrow 4-3 defeat to higher-league neighbours Kidderminster Harriers last Saturday.

It was a fairly even match that the away team just shaded although there were plenty of positives for Rouslers manager Kelly to take.

For Sporting Nathan Hayward, new boy Pais and Charlie Dowd got the goals.

It could have been one more but Liam Spink put a penalty over the bar.

For National League North visitors Harriers, Jaden White and Ethan Freemantle with a brace each, did the honours.

Looking forward, Sporting now know who their opponents will be when they start their FA Cup campaign on Tuesday (September 22).

Bromsgrove have been handed a testing tie against fellow Southern Premier Central outfit Stratford Town but the Rouslers will enjoy home advantage.

The first qualifying round tie will kick off at 7.45pm at the Victoria Ground.

Meanwhile Bromsgrove Sporting ladies started their league season last Sunday, coming out 3-0 winners against Inkberrow Eagles.
