THOMAS Vale Construction has picked up the prize for employer of the year at the 2013 Construction News Awards – one of the most prestigious industry events of the year.

Gary Mail, managing director of the Stourport-upon-Severn-based company, said: “Year on year the competition for these awards gets tougher. This is an outstanding accomplishment for Thomas Vale.

“Everyone involved should be extremely proud of the hard work and effort that went in to achieving this award and I would like to thank everyone for their contribution.”

Finalists presented their entries to a panel of judges which were made up of 57 big-name clients, consultants, contractors and representatives of government and industry bodies. This gave the shortlisted businesses the chance to convey their passion in person.

Rebecca Evans, editor of Construction News, said: “The winners of the Construction News Awards 2013 represent the very best of an innovative, dynamic industry that builds everything from breathtaking towers that change the skyline, to schools, hospitals and roads that change people’s lives.

“These companies are leading the way in adopting a more sustainable, collaborative and responsible approach to construction, with exciting technology at its core.

“Congratulations to all the winners, they are a fantastic reflection of the huge contribution that construction makes to the economy, the jobs market and to wider society.”
