A WORCESTERSHIRE farmer, who supplies hundreds of butchers and top restaurants, surprised Chelsea Pensioners with turkeys for their Christmas dinner.

NFU member Robert Caldecott and his wife Anne, of Wythall, donated some of their farm-fresh traditional turkeys to the cherished war heroes at the Royal Hospital Chelsea.

The festive gesture saw Mr Caldecott present them with 10 birds on Christmas Eve, when he also met up with pensioner Dave Thomson, a former army chef who spent many years living in Bromsgrove.

The donation was made as part of the on-going Turkeys for Troops campaign which was launched last year by UK Turkeys and the NFU.

Mr Caldecott said: “I’m really proud to be part of the campaign and we’re delighted to give the Chelsea Pensioners fresh British turkeys 0once again for their Christmas Day dinner.

“I was honoured to be asked to represent the British turkey industry by donating these birds for a great cause.

“It was a humbling experience and great to be introduced to the pensioners.”

Trading as Caldecott Turkey Farms Ltd., the family business has been established for more than 60 years with high quality, high welfare turkey production all year round.

Mr and Mrs Caldecott produce bronze and white turkeys and supply more than 550 butchers.
