THE winners of a competition to help community ventures make short films about their work were announced at a Christmas market for care and support groups and businesses at County Hall, Worcester.

The competition was run by Community Catalysts as part of the support offered by the Worcestershire Micro-enterprise project, which is run jointly with Worcestershire County Council.

The winners were Emilia Monizsko and Claire Hilton of Art in Minds, who were presented with their prize and congratulated by Clare Marchant, chief executive of Worcestershire County Council.

The first prize sponsor Michael de Groot of Staying Alive UK, offered a package of support valued at more than £500, which included support to enhance the film and training for using LinkedIn for business.

Chris Clarke of Community Catalysts said: "It is lovely that support is being offered by larger businesses and organisations with such a high profile for individuals and small groups who have a real passion for what they do.”

Worcester Cathedral is to host an event titled Community Connect on Thursday, February 18, to raise awareness of these groups and showcase some of the local opportunities on offer.
